“City for everyone” is a development strategy with a strong social agenda. No one shall be excluded on the basis of her or his gender, beliefs, cultural background, or income.
This social goal is achieved by mixing functions and types of housing. Accordingly, the city is marked by its wide offering of different kinds of housing, workplaces, and facilities attracting a large diversity of people from different social strata.
Mixing types of housing and functions and thus people will reduce the overall need for transportation in the Dakar region, help overcome social disparities, foster communities, and increase the overall quality of life in the area.
With its parks, the beach, the hospitals, university, and educational and cultural institutions, the city invites visitors from the outside. With its water treatment and waste handling facilities it also provides work opportunities for already existing communities in the region.
